In the first half, the Spartans lacked penetration up front and had only one occasion which could have opened the score. In the early stages of the game Ryan Spiteri crossed towards Nanapere, the latter’s shot was well handled by the Swieqi keeper.
In the second half, coach Steve D’Amato substituted Cacciatolo with Sicali to add penetration to the Hamrun attack. In the opening stages.the Spartans intensified their efforts and on the 57th minute Jake Grech entered in the box from a through ball. Grech was fouled in the box by Shaun Bonello and the Spartans were awarded a penalty which Alan Tabone duly converted. From now on Swieqi were reduced to ten men. In the 78th minute, the Spartans increased the score when Simon Shead took a ball from outside the penalty area and placed it in the top corner. The Spartans continued to build up their attacks and in the 83rd minute Simon Shead crossed towards Ryan Spiteri, the latter placed it into the net.
The Spartans next match will be against Siggiew FC.
